GoDaddy is one of the global registered and authentic organizations to purchase custom domain names for your website or a blog. The purpose of custom domain names is to make it simple for other people to remember and recognize your link. In this article, we will discuss step by step how to attach a custom domain name with your blog or website obtained from GoDaddy.
Step 1. Sign in to Blogger & Create a Blog
In the first step, "How to attach a custom domain with blogger", connect yourself with the blogger using your google account and start generating your new blog. If you are already working on BlogSpot, you can quit this step. But in case, if you are creating a new blog, sign yourself with your google account and generate your first blog with blogger.
First of all, you need to enter the title of your blog that you have already suggested. After entering your title select a URL subdomain) for your blog. Ultimately, it will ask you to confirm your display name. After finishing the blog-making process, forward to the next step.
Step 2. Place your Custom Domain in Blogger
In the second step of "How to attach a custom domain with blogger"? you need to buy a custom domain name from GoDaddy. After designing a new blog with a blogger, the next step is to create a custom domain with your blog. You will have to do it step by step:-
1. Log in to your blogger account.
2. Open the settings option.
3. Scroll down the page and then click on a custom domain.
4. In the option, enter your domain with www as(www.mydomain.com)
5. When you will click on the save, it will request you to enter two CNAMEs in your domain register..
Step 3. Add CNAME Records in GoDaddy
Now in this step, we will add CNAME records to our domain registrar's DNS settings. After buying your domain name from GoDaddy:-
1. Open GoDaddy in the latest browser and log in to your account.
2. Under my products, click DNS that is placed in front of your domain name to open the DNS settings.
3. In the domain's command page, you will see a few A records, CNAME records but you require to add new CNAME records. So for adding new CNAME records, click add.
5. Now, select CNAME as you Type from the menu bar, fill www for the Host field, and enter the value availed in Blogger in the error message for Destination in the Points to field. For the TTL field, you can quit it as default. After you have done, click the Save button to save the changes.
If there is already CNAME with www Hostname in your DNS records you should delete the earlier one to add the latest record.
6. For the second CNAME follow the same method.
Now, include these CNAME records in your domain registrar’s DNS settings. As you obtained your domain from GoDaddy, open GoDaddy in a new browser tab and log in to your account. Now, under My Products, click DNS to open the DNS settings.
On your domain’s DNS command page, some A records, CNAME records, etc. will appear. But, you are required to add new CNAME records. So, to add new CNAME records, click Add.
Step 4. There should be no “A Record” with “Parked” Value
2. For deleting the record, click the Edit icon on the right and then click the Delete icon. All this is so easy.
Step 5. Repeat the Second Step; Add Custom Domain Again
1. After attaching the CNAMEs, wait for an hour to activate your DNS settings. Then you need to attach the custom domain again to the Blogger account.
2. Now go to your Blogger Settings. Under Publishing, click Custom domain and enter the domain again and click Save.
